"People just don’t understand how big Nevada is and how much of our land is federally-owned."

- Ed Lawson, Mayor of Sparks, says that while the Sparks lands bill seems like a “tremendous amount of acreage,” it actually represents “0.001% of all the federal land in Nevada.” He explains Sparks is out of land and they’ll need to “grow up,” noting that he doesn’t want to be like San Francisco but it looks like they’ll have to be if they don’t get the property tax change or the lands bill passed.
